English Literature and English Language

English encourages pupils to explore the relationships that exist between texts and the contexts within which they are written, received and understood. Studying texts enables pupils to investigate any connections, drawing out patterns of similarity and difference using a variety of reading strategies and perspectives. English Literature characterises the process of exploring independent meaning , debating and challenging the interpretations of other readers as each pupil develops their own informed personal response.

Maths / Further Maths

The A level Maths programme encourages students to think logically and analytically through stimulating and challenging teaching and learning opportunities. Skills such as problem solving, logical reasoning, communication and resilience, mathematical techniques and their applications will offer excellent preparation for numerous university courses and/or employment.

Further Maths offers a lot of opportunities as the A level Maths programme, but is for those who are particularly keen to explore maths at a higher level.

Both subjects will be taught in a stimulating, enjoyable and rewarding manner allowing pupils to explore new and/or more sophisticated mathematical concepts.
